In Australia there is a bird called The Regent Honey Eater which is slowly losing its song because of a dwindling population and thus a lack of community to teach new birds their mating song. Fewer than 350 of the critically endangered species remain. The way our ancestral stories and ancient myths have shaped us and our progress is what has inspired many of these works in the pollution absorbing NOXORB I have been pioneering the use of in sculpture since 2017. Originally inspired by my son’s asthma attack in 2018, the work has increasingly become more of a systems stories of our interconnection to all living things, moving from a place of dystopian paralysis to a more hopeful model of a symbiocene.
