Quantum Self 2014 Plastics and Light 30x30x30cm- Shortlisted for The NOA 2015

Over the years, as I have perfected the technique of working in plastics, the work has moved away from 2D representational work to sculpture which is increasingly becoming more abstract. My original training as a painter, particularly of the human form, still inspires much of my work but I find I am more and more drawn to the repeating patterns found in nature and our influence on our environment.

SHORTLISTED FOR THE THREADNEEDLE PRIZE 2012The ‘butterfly effect’ is a term used in Chaos theory to describe how small changes to a seemingly unrelated thing, can affect large, complex systems. In humans it may be possible for small initial changes to render behaviour unpredictable. Ironically, Chaos is also responsible for fractals or repeating patterns, many of which surround us in the natural world…..rendering it harmonious.
